Health Themes
AIHI advocates for and develops effective reponses through a primary
health care approach to neglected and emerging health needs facing
countries in the Asia Pacific. This includes adolescent health,
women's and children's health, disability, mental health promotion,
water and health, security and health, health of mobile populations,
tobacco control and non-communicable disease.
Response to Major Disease Burden
AIHI is focussed on strengthening programs of prevention, care
and treatment for diseases that place a heavy burden on communities.
This is both for communicable diseases including HIV/AIDS, malaria,
tuberculosis and vaccine preventable diseases, and for non-communicable
disease in relation to tobacco use, nutrition and mental health.
