Professor Vijoleta Braach-Maksvytis
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Innovation and Development
Professor Vijoleta Braach-Maksvytis is the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor Innovation and Development for Melbourne University. She was previously the Director Global Development at Australia's premier science research agency, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), where she also served as the Executive Chair of Science. Professor Braach-Maksvytis recently served as deputy to the Chief Scientist of Australia, and convened the Australian Nanotechnology Network and was a key driver in establishing nanotechnology into the Australian policy, research, and industry agendas, and holds over 20 patents in the field. Professor Braach-Maksvytis has been advisor to developing countries on innovation issues, UN organisations, and the World Bank. She is a Director of a number of Boards, member of the Australian-Thailand Commission and the UNESCO Commission.
